新日本プロレス４日の東京ドーム大会で、ＩＷＧＰ世界ヘビー級王者のザック・セイバーJr.（３７）に敗れた海野翔太（２７）が、どん底からの再スタートを誓った。 バイクで入場してきた海野 海野の挑戦は、厳しいものとなった。序盤からスピードとパワーをいかしてザックのテクニカルな攻撃に臨んだものの、なかなかペースをつかめない。なりふり構わずなんとか追いつこうと場外戦に持ち込み、鉄柵にたたきつけるなど闘志を見せたが、観客席からはブーイングが飛んだ。 その後も奮闘を見せる海野だが、苦戦を強いられる。終盤には意地の反撃に出て、エプロンに倒れたザックをロープ越しに踏みつけるも、これまた大ブーイング。結果もその後、ザックに畳みかけられてセイバードライバーからゴッチ式パイルドライバー、変型のザックドライバーとつなげられて屈辱の３カウントを聞くことになった。 ザック(左)に健闘を称えられる海野 その後、コメントスペースで仰向けに横たわった海野は「負けたか…。悔しいな。イスに座る資格もないから、どん底からしゃべらせてもらう」と、そのままマイクを持つ。 ２年前の１月４日の東京ドーム大会でタッグを組んだ武藤敬司から「たくさん経験をしろ、失敗をしろ。その積み重ねが大きいほど自分のためになる」と言われたとして「実績も戴冠歴もないヤツが１・４のメインに立ったことがあるか？ ブーイングなんか当たり前だよ」と自嘲気味に話す。 そして「でも、俺には夢がある。東京ドームを超満員札止めにするっていう。俺はその夢を諦めないし、プロレスの力を信じている。超満員札止めにできなかったオカダとかオスプレイとかふざけんなよ。忘れてくれ。取っ払ってくれ。新日本の新時代が、新世代が超満員にしてやる！」と決意表明。 さらに「２０代の小僧でも、メインを張ったんだ。自信を持って、今年、走らせてもらう。自分の腰にＩＷＧＰヘビーのベルトを取り返してやる。今この瞬間から、前を向いて歩きます！」と力強く話した。 大きな敗北から、いかに立ち上がる姿を見せられるか。
