The National Weather Service says that several rescues have been requested in the Capitola/Santa Cruz area. The NWS advises people to stay out of the water. “You’re putting your life at risk and the lives of the people that have to then try and save you,” the NWS said online. A coastal flood warning and a high surf warning are in place until noon Tuesday for the San Francisco coastline down to the Big Sur coast.”For the Coastal Flood Warning, coastal flooding in low-lying areas,” said the NWS. “For the High Surf Warning, dangerously large breaking waves of 25 to 35 feet, with the largest wave sets up to 50 feet at favored spots.”There is a chance for life-threatening swimming conditions and potential shoreline erosions. Waves can sweep across the beach without warning. The Capitola Wharf has been closed until further notice.
