Notre Dame is coming off an impressive 23-10 win over No. 2 Georgia at the Sugar Bowl, where the Fighting Irish dominated with specials team play, nailing three field goals and returning a kickoff for a touchdown to start the second half. Penn State has defeated its CFP opponents — SMU and Boise State — with ease so far, winning by 28 and 17 points, respectively.

The national championship game berth would be the first for both Penn State’s James Franklin and Notre Dame’s Marcus Freeman squads. Moreover, Franklin and Freeman will meet for the first time, with both set to enter the biggest games of their careers.
