Drew Allar’s season as a whole was much improved in 2024 compared to his 2023 season, seeing big jumps in completion percentage (59.9 to 67.4) and yards per attempt (6.8 to 8.6). In this game, however, it’s hard not to be disappointed by the young QB. He was inaccurate, held onto the ball too long at times, and put the ball in harm’s way far more than he typically has throughout his career.
He had multiple bad throws that were intercepted but didn’t count thanks to penalties on Notre Dame, but the one that did count was the difference in the game. With just over two minutes left and a chance to win, Allar fired a pass late over the middle to Omari Evans that was intercepted by Notre Dame’s Christian Gray. Allar is expected to return to Penn State in 2025, and he still has a lot to improve upon if he wants to take them to a National Championship.
