HOUSTON – Fans of the Houston Texans and Los Angeles Chargers gathered at NRG Stadium for an exciting matchup, with emotions running high both on and off the field.
Nephi Acevedo, a Chargers fan, expressed his excitement about the game. “I grew up a San Diego Chargers fan before they moved to Los Angeles, so this is a dream come true,” Acevedo said. “We’ve been in Texas for some time now, so this is the perfect opportunity to catch a Chargers game.”
His enthusiasm was shared by Fernando Acevedo, who added, “We love Texas, but we’re from California and we love the Chargers. We’re proud to be here and watch this game. Go Bolts!”

Houston Texans fans also showed up in full force. John Lancloffs, a Texans supporter, was optimistic about his team’s chances. “I think we have a good shot at this. We put together a really good team this year. Love our defense, can’t wait to watch them play, and hopefully, CJ can pull off a little magic and win,” Lancloffs said.
Bobby Darnell, a devoted Texans fan and a football head coach with Fort Bend ISD, had a special reason to support the Chargers. “One of my former players from Clements High School was the 13th pick in the ’21 draft for the Chargers,” Darnell explained. “Rashawn Slater, a two-time Pro Bowler and one-time All-Pro, gotta support him.”
While many Chargers fans were in Houston to cheer on their team, they were mindful of the Palisades Fire back home in Los Angeles. Samantha Lancloffs, a Texans fan, expressed her hopes for those affected. “We just hope everyone gets to rebuild soon and get some type of normalcy, but football is a great way to get there,” she said.
Chargers fan Anthony Mullia added, “Hopefully we can get a win for the city, Los Angeles. It’s unfortunate what’s happening, but we got it. Bolts up!”
