Over 500 people report feeling 2.8 magnitude quake in Central Virginia, USGS says

RICHMOND, Va. (7News) — Over 500 people reported feeling a 2.8 magnitude earthquake in Central Virginia Tuesday, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

“We’re aware of a 2.8 magnitude earthquake that was felt in Central Virginia. Our teams are contacting local government officials now, and we are working to assess the impact,” said Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin on X.

Areas near the epicenter include the following:

  1. Wyndham, Virginia, United States
  2. Short Pump, Virginia, United States
  3. Glen Allen, Virginia, United States
  4. Laurel, Virginia, United States
  5. Richmond, Virginia, United States
