‘Emilia Pérez,’ ‘The Brutalist’ and ‘Shōgun’: The complete 2025 Golden Globes winners list

A sweep for “Shōgun”

and a potent showing for “Emilia Pérez”

highlighted this year’s Golden Globe Awards, which also recognized numerous first-time winners.

“Emilia Pérez,”

the crime thriller musical starring Karla Sofía Gascón

,

Zoe Saldaña

and Selena Gomez, headed into the ceremony with a leading 10 nominations. The unconventional Netflix film, directed by Jacques Audiard, maintained its momentum with four wins including best movie comedy or musical, best non-English language film and a best supporting actress victory for a passionate Saldaña

among its victories.

“I’m filled with adrenaline, but my heart is full of gratitude,” Saldaña said as tears ran down her cheeks.

The 82

nd annual awards, which aired live Sunday from Beverly Hills, California, lauded “Shōgun” with wins in its four nominated categories for best drama series as well as best acting awards for Anna Sawai

, Hiroyuki Sanada and Tadanobu Asano.

All were first-time winners, along with Saldaña, Brazilian actress Fernanda Torres (best actress in a drama for “I’m Still Here”),

Adrien Brody (best actor in a drama for “The Brutalist”) and Demi Moore (best actress in a comedy or musical film for “The Substance”).

Both Brody and Moore turned reflective in their acceptance speeches, with Brody referencing the theme of immigration in “The Brutalist,” which also won best drama.

“The many people who have struggled immigrating to this country, I hope this work stands to lift you up a bit and to give you a voice,” he said.

Moore, meanwhile, expressed surprise at her win for best actress in a comedy or musical for “The Substance,” eloquently sharing that 30 years ago, a producer demeaned her abilities by telling her she was merely a “popcorn actress.” This was Moore’s first major industry award in her high-profile 45-year career.

While “Wicked” didn’t storm any brick roads, yellow or otherwise, the film adaptation of the massive Broadway pleaser earned the cinematic and box-office achievement nod in a category created in 2024.

Since its November release, “Wicked” has grossed more than $681 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing film based on a Broadway musical.

This year’s Golden Globes were hosted by comedian Nikki Glaser, who gently skewered attendees including Timothée Chalamet, Adam Sandler and Gomez and new fiancé Benny Blanco while always armed with a sly smile.
