FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (WJAR) — The New England patriots announced on Sunday that Mike Vrabel will take over as head coach of the team. Many fans telling NBC 10 that Vrabel was the guy they wanted.

“He’s one of the family, he’s one of us,” said Will Powers of Coventry. “I’d like to see him get more than a year just so we can see what he’s got in the tank.”
The news comes one week after the Patriots fired first year head coach Jerod Mayo. Many fans said they think Vrabel was the perfect replacement.
“I’m excited for the Patriots, I think it’s going to be a good season,” said Lilly Boedeker of Attleboro. “I’ve got a good feeling about him.”
To many fans Vrabel is a familiar name around Foxborough. Vrabel was a key part of the Patriots defense during the first half of the dynasty years and was also an occasional red-zone threat on offense. Catching touchdown passes in Super Bowl’s 38 and 39.
“I grew up watching him play,” said Corey Mills of Sharon. “He probably benefited from taking a year off and now he’s going to be super motivated.”
Vrabel coached the Tennessee Titans from 2018 to 2023.
“Change for the sake of change is not good but this change needed to be made,” said Powers.
