Jaxson Dart NFL Draft Stock Makes Major Move After Thursday Bowl Game Blowout

Ole Miss star quarterback Jaxson Dart has compiled an impressive career in the SEC over the past three years, and while leading his team to a 9-3 regular-season record wasn’t enough to get the Rebels into the College Football Playoff, the way he led the team to a 52-20 drubbing of Duke in the Gator Bowl–27-for-35 passing, 404 yards and four touchdowns–has kick-started the next phase of his career.

Dart is heading to the NFL draft, and in a field of quarterbacks that is lacking in overall talent and depth, Dart appears to be making a move among decision-makers.

One NFL scout told Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports NFL,He’s gonna be a major steal in the draft. Throws the ball down the field as well as anyone, which I realize is kinda this lost skill in today’s game, but that’s what makes him interesting. Get Dart a couple speed guys and he can really hurt you.”

Dart is 6-foot-2 and 225 pounds, and posted impressive numbers this year: His 4,729 yards, 29 touchdowns, and 329.2 yards per game led the SEC, and his 10.8 yards per attempt and 180.7 rating led the nation

Several NFL-types weighed in on Dart as the Gator Bowl was unfolding.

Former NFL linebacker and Fox Sports analyst Emmanuel Acho wrote on Twitter/X, “How is Jaxson Dart not being talked about like a top 10 overall pick? Ole Miss fans, what am I missing?? We only talk about Shedeur and Cam Ward, but this Dart kid is out here SLINGING IT!!”

Acho was not alone in that sentiment.

Dart still likely has some progress to make, at least in the eyes of evaluators.

Pro Football Focus has Dart ranked as the 14th quarterback prospect in 2025, and No. 208 overall, which would mean he is projected to be drafted in the seventh and final round. That figures to change.
