Watch: Jessica Simpson Lists Home for $18 Million Amid Eric Johnson Breakup
Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson have been headed toward the endzone for some time.
One day after the “Irresistible” singer announced her break up from the retired NFL player following 10 years of marriage, a source exclusively told E! News that the couple had already been separated “for a while.”
In fact, as they navigate their new chapter apart from each other, Jessica, 44, and Eric, 45, have already turned their attention to co-parenting their kids: Maxwell, 12, Ace, 11, and Birdie, 5.
“They are both great parents,” the source added, “and the kids are 100 percent their focus.”
And prioritizing their family isn’t the only way Jessica and Eric have adjusted to their new normal. Earlier this month, Jessica said goodbye to the home she used to share with the former tight end, listing her mansion in Hidden Hills, Calif., for a whopping $17.9 million, according to property records viewed by E! News.
Per the records, the house was placed on sale on Jan. 11, two days before Jessica revealed that she and Eric called it quits in a heartbreaking message.
“Eric and I have been living separately navigating a painful situation in our marriage,” the 44-year-old told E! News in a statement Jan. 13. “Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them.”
She added, “We are grateful for all of the love and support that has been coming our way, and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family.”

Jessica and Eric—who tied the knot in 2014, one year after welcoming their second child, Ace—had been facing breakup speculation for over a year before announcing their separation. And while the “With You” singer never publicly addressed the rumors and kept her personal life mostly out of the public eye in recent months, she has taken the time to shine a spotlight on some of her family’s milestone moments.
“Maxwell, Ace and Birdie y’all make your Mom beam with smiles and grace,” Jessica wrote on Instagram in September 2024 in honor of her kids’ first days of school. “Keep on showin’ up for yourselves with each step of the way through this new school year. I’m so very proud of y’all for individually shining your light so that in return others feel the glow.”
