The Buffalo Bills won’t play their Week 17 matchup until Sunday, but many fans likely still kept track of NFL action on Christmas Day, which featured four AFC playoff teams.
The first matchup of the day, which featured the Kansas City Chiefs and the Pittsburgh Steelers, didn’t do much other than solidifying the Chiefs as the top seed in the AFC, meaning Buffalo will secure the No. 2 seed with a win against the New York Jets on Sunday.

Although the second matchup on Christmas between the Baltimore Ravens and the Houston Texans didn’t impact where the Bills land in the standings, it did impact quarterback Josh Allen‘s odds of taking home his first career MVP.
Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson finished the day against Houston with 255 total yards and three total touchdowns in just three quarters, as Baltimore chose to rest their star quarterback for the final quarter with the game in hand.
Heading into Christmas, Allen was the consensus favorite to win MVP with -500 odds, while Jackson had +350 odds. However, after Jackson’s impressive performance, Allen now has -190 odds while Jackson has +140 odds.
Obviously, Allen is still the consensus favorite based on those odds, but the race has become much closer with both quarterbacks still set to play at least one more game.
If the Bills win on Sunday, there is also a strong chance that they rest Allen in Week 18 with his playoff position already locked in, meaning his MVP chances could be decided on Sunday against New York.
