In the Chargers 32-12 wild card loss to the Texans, rookie wide receiver Ladd McConkey set a bit of league history for himself although it may not go a long way in making him feel better about the outcome.
With 197 receiving yards on Saturday against Houston, McConkey set the single-game record for yards by a rookie in NFL history. That number is also good for third-most in any playoff debut in league annals, behind only Calvin Johnson’s 211 and Demaryius Thomas’ 204.

McConkey’s performance is only further highlighted in the loss by the lack of what didn’t happen around him. Outside of his production, Chargers players recorded five receptions for 45 yards. The second-most productive player behind McConkey? Tight end Will Dissly with two catches and 16 yards.
Overall, the rookie will end his first professional season having accumulated 1,346 yards on 91 receptions with eight total touchdowns between the regular and postseason.
