HANOVER, Va. (WWBT) – A portion of Hanover County is now under a “boil water’ advisory.
The advisory impacts residents who live east of I-95. However, residents west of 95 are asked to continue to conserve water.
Officials add that while the water is not contaminated, the advisory is a precaution due to low water pressure.
“The advisory follows a power outage at the City of Richmond’s water treatment facility, which supplies water to Hanover, Henrico and Chesterfield counties,” County officials said in a news release.
The county says it transitioned to alternative water supplies on Monday.

Water will be distributed from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the following locations:
- Atlee High School football field parking lot
- Cold Harbor Elementary School bus loop
The county says residents are allowed one case per family.
“We are doing everything we can to address this situation as quickly as possible while prioritizing the safety and well-being of our residents,” said Hanover County Administrator John A. Budesky. “Our teams are working around the clock to ensure that those impacted have the resources they need during this time.”
The county says once Richmond’s water service is fully restored, a boil advisory order will remain in effect east of I-95 for at least 48 hours.
